Dr. Dernie, a Black, femme, disabled, and neurodivergent physical therapist, shares their journey through a weaponized fitness culture, offering an alternative path that celebrates all bodies and abilities.
About the Speakers:
Dr. Marcia Dernie (she/they) is a Doctor Of Physical Therapy, accessible yoga teacher, child of Haitian immigrants, dancer, and chronically ill strength athlete. Their book Movement for Every Body serves as an inclusive roadmap for folks of all abilities, shades, and sizes to enjoy movement. She also provides free and affordable online resources to help folks move better through her platform @MoveWithMarcia.
Casey McDonagh, LCSW (she/her) is a therapist and social worker at Bellamy & Associates, where she takes a person-centered, inclusive, anti-oppressive, and holistic approach to therapy, supporting clients in achieving their goals within a non-judgmental space.
